What should you know about ‘Baby Girl’?

Helmed by Arun Varma, ‘Baby Girl’ is written by Bobby-Sanjay, known for their films ‘Traffic’, ‘Ayalum Njaanum Thammil’, ‘Mumbai Police’, ‘How Old Are You?’, ‘Uyare’, and ‘Kaanekkaane’, among others. The film revolves around the disappearance of a newborn and the mystery surrounding it. Nivin Pauly essayes the role of Sanal, a hospital attendant who arrives for work late and discovers about the child. Actors Lijomol Jose, Abhimanyu Thilakan, and Sangeeth Prathap play prominent roles in the film. Actors Azees Nedumangad, Major Ravi, Nandu, Aditi Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Jaffer Idukki, Alphy Panjikaran, Kaillash, Kichu Tellu, Nisha Sarang, Aswanth Lal, and Prem Prakash are also part of the cast. TOI ranked the film 3 out of 5, and the review reads, “The film portrays events that unfold over 24 hours, but that urgency fails to translate to the screen in a meaningful way. It does drag towards the end, especially since the climax is more or less predictable. There are several unnecessary scenes sprinkled throughout. That said, the characters manage to keep the viewer invested. Rishi, played by Sangeeth Prathap, and Ritu, played by Lijomol, are given a backstory that makes them feel human. By rooting the narrative in its characters, the team does a neat job of sustaining engagement. Nivin Pauly blends seamlessly into the common man persona, though beyond that, he does not have much to do.”
