‘Killing Satoshi’ to feature certain AI scenes

From director Doug Liman, ‘Killing Satoshi’ has garnered much attention since the project was announced. According to Variety reports shared online, the film has certain scenes refined through the use of artificial intelligence, or AI. The director and one of the film’s producers officially released a casting notice about the matter. They have also revealed that the actors will not shoot the scenes in any actual locations. A statement from the report read, “They will use a “markerless performative capture stage and not in any locations, using new AI technologies.”The casting notice also declared that the film’s creators will have every right to edit and rework any material using “generative artificial intelligence (GAI) and/or machine learning technologies.”

Producer issues a separate statement about the use of AI

While the film’s creators confirmed they will not use the tech unconventionally without the consent of the actors or involved parties, some qualms remain. Ryan Kavanaugh, one of the project’s backers, released an official statement about the matter. In the same report he stated, “We were very cautious, sensitive and overly protective of our actors to make sure we only use performance capture AI which means that we will not have any AI-generated actors that do not exist. AI is a tool we’re using to make the filmmaking process more efficient while maintaining all department heads’ jobs, all actor jobs and hopefully helping to grow the industry in a positive way.”
