Barry Manilow has made the tough call to cancel several tour dates after a disheartening doctor’s visit tied to his ongoing lung cancer battle. The music legend shared the update with fans on Instagram, keeping his signature optimism amid recovery challenges.

Health setback hits hard

Barry Manilow first revealed his early-stage lung cancer diagnosis in December 2025. It came to light after a stubborn bout of bronchitis led to an MRI. “As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” Barry Manilow wrote on Instagram at the time. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news.”Doctors confirmed the cancer had not spread, sparing Barry Manilow from chemotherapy or radiation. He underwent surgery soon after his Christmas shows wrapped up. “The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis,” he noted. “So that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”Recovery stretched longer than expected. In early January 2026, Barry Manilow posted a positive check-in, but by February 20, he admitted more time was needed. On Instagram, he told fans, “My lungs aren’t ready yet,” as he announced postponements for his 2026 arena tour dates from February 27 to March 17.

Tour dates on hold

Barry Manilow, now 82, expressed deep regret over the cancellations. “I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans,” he shared earlier about rescheduling January shows. E! News reported the latest wave of cancellations followed a “depressing” doctor’s appointment, highlighting how his lungs still need strengthening post-surgery.Fans have rallied with support, praising Barry Manilow’s resilience. He urged everyone to get checked for even minor symptoms during his initial announcement. A throat cancer survivor from years back, Barry Manilow now faces this second fight with the same fighting spirit that fueled hits like “Copacabana” and “Mandy.”

Fans rally behind the legend

The music world admires Barry Manilow’s candour. Recovery updates show him resting up, with hopes of returning stronger. “I’m counting down the days until I can return to the stage,” he said back in December, according to People Magazine. As he focuses on healing, ticket holders await new dates, while his message of early detection resonates widely.
