VISAKHAPATNAM: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) suspended Saturday four employees for allegedly practising a non-Hindu religion, bringing the total number of such suspensions to five. The decision followed a review of a report by TTD’s vigilance department, which included what officials described as supporting evidence of “gross misconduct” and religious practices incompatible with the Tirupati temple trust’s code of conduct. The employees suspended are B Elizar, deputy executive engineer (quality control); S Rosi, staff nurse at BIRRD Hospital; M Premavati, grade-I pharmacist at BIRRD Hospital; and Dr G Asuntha, on deputation at SV Ayurveda Pharmacy and formerly principal of SPW Polytechnic College. According to the official memos, the employees violated rule 3 of Andhra Pradesh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, which outlines general standards of conduct for govt servants.
