The Madhya Pradesh government suspended two drug inspectors and a deputy director, and transferred the state drug controller, after 14 children died in Chhindwara from a “toxic” Coldrif cough syrup. A special investigation team was formed, the syrup was banned, and stocks are being recovered. Dr Praveen Soni was arrested, and action was directed against the manufacturer and prescribing doctor.
